Coaching Sessions

The Under 11s coaching sessions are held on Fridays evenings. The Under 11s coach is John Akrigg with help from Charlotte Boulton.

The U11s play Gordon Bowers cricket: Teams consist of 10 children, who bat in pairs, with each pair facing 2 overs. The score starts with 200 runs & runs are added as normal, and 'outs' merely subtract 8 runs from the total (the batter plays on). With the exception of the wicket-keeper all players bowl at least 2 overs.

Wharfedale Stags (A) - 29th April 2010

Tight bowling kept Wharfedale Stags to a low total of 246 runs with 5 dismissals brought their adjusted total to 206 runs. All the Steeton bowlers balled well ensuring none of the Wharfedale batters reached double figures. The bowlers to take wickets were Bradley Akrigg (1-6), Thomas Meakin (1-2), Waseem Qureshi (1-4), Nithin Thomas (1-9) & Jake Halls (1-2).  Fielding points went to keeper Alex Briggs & Thomas Meakin. Steeton's batting got off to a solid start with Bradley Akrigg scoring an impressive 13 runs (out once) and Alex Briggs scoring a sold 7 runs. With Nithin Thomas scoring 6 runs and Will Pinder scoring 8 runs not out Steeton progressed their total to 260 runs, but with 5 dismissals this brought the adjusted total to 220 runs. Steeton start the season well with a 14-runs victory.    Full Scorecard

Silsden Hawks (A) - 2nd May 2010

Steeton's good start to the season continues with a 46-run defeat of local rivals Silsden. Silsden batted first and scored well - Lister (10) & Kalifer (17) leading the way. For Steeton the bowlers again balled well, with wickets for Nithin Thomas (1-11), Atif Modak (1-5), Bradley Akrigg (1-3) & Thomas Meakin (1-0). Jake Halls & Atif Modak both took catches and the fielding points were awarded to keeper Alex Briggs & Jake Halls. Silsden had scored 257 runs, which with 4 dismissals meant their adjusted total was 225 runs. In reply Bradley Akrigg hit 4 boundaries in an excellent personal score of 21 runs (with 1 out). He was well supported by Thomas Meakin (7), Alex Briggs (7), Nithin Thomas (7) & Anish Gosh (6) - none of whom were out! Steeton had scored an impressive 287 runs & with only 2 dismissals their adjusted score was 271 runs - giving Steeton an emphatic victory.    Full Scorecard

Wilsden (H) - 13th May 2010

Steeton's good start to the season continues with a 19-run victory at home against Wilsden. Batting first Wislden got off to a bright start thanks to Murphy (17), but were soon pegged back by tight Steeton bowling. Ben Yeadon (2-2) & Georgina Simpson (2-4) took 2 wickets each, and there was a single wicket each for skipper Bradley Akrigg (1-12) & Jake Halls (1-4). Keeper Alex Briggs had a stumping and earned himself a fielding point, and there were also fieldin points for Atif Modak & Harris Rowlett. Wilsden had scored 264 runs, which when adjusted for 6 dismissals meant their total was 216 runs for 6 wickets. Steeton's reply was led by skipper Bradley Akrigg who hit 5 boundaries and was not dismissed as he scored 21 runs. Good contributions also came from Thomas Meakin, who scored 7 runs with 1 four; Ben Yeadon who also scored 7 runs with 1 four; and Waseem Qureshi, who hit 1 four as he scored 9 runs. Steeton had scored 283 runs, which when adjusted for 6 dismissals meant their final score was 236 runs for 6 wickets. Steeton were greatly helped in their victory chase by being given 30 runs in extras, compared to just 18  runs that they conceded in extras. Steeton won by 19 runs and have now won 3 games out of 3!    Full Scorecard

Bradley (A) - 16th May 2010

Steeton's good start to the season continues with their most comprehensive victory so far - 50 runs! Batting first Steeton's openers got them off to a fantastic start: Bradley Akrigg scored 16 runs including 3 fours & Thomas Meakin also hit 3 fours as he scored 18 runs, with neither batter being out. Other good contributions came from Alex Briggs (6) & Will Pinder (6), who were not out, and also from Waseem Qureshi (7) although he was out twice. Steeton scored 280 runs, which when adjusted for 4 dismissals meant their final total was 248 runs. Bradley's reply did not have the fluency of the Steeton batting, and only Marshall (11) & Greenwood (10) managed double figures. Steeton's bowling was very good, with only 8 wides conceded, compared to Bradley's 19 wides! The pick of the bowling was Will Pinder, who bowled 3 overs & took 2 wickets while only conceding 3 runs. Bradley Akrigg (1-8), Ben Yeadon (1-1), Georgina Simpson (1-4) & Jake Halls (1-10) all collected 1 wicket each. Jake Halls took a catch, and Jake & Alex Briggs were awarded the fielding points. Bradley had scored 246 runs, which when adjusted meant their total was 198 - 50 runs behind the Steeton target.    Full Scorecard

Earby (H) - 27th May 2010

Steeton's excellent start to the season continues unabated with a massive victory against Earby by 66 runs. Batting first Steeton's batting was exemplary with only one player being out. The dependable Bradley Akrigg saw Steeton off to an excellent start with 22 runs including 4 fours & a five! Atif Modak hit 3 fours as he scored 12 runs. Alex Briggs & Waseem Qureshi both scored 9 runs - Alex hit 1 four & Waseem hit 2 fours. Ceri Holland scored 8 runs & skipper Thomas Meakin scored 7 runs as Steeton scored a mammoth 300 runs, whish when adjusted for 1 dismissal meant they set a huge target of 292 runs. In reply Earby lost wickets regularly to a good Steeton bowling attack. The pick of the bowlers was Jake Halls with 2 wickets while conceding 9 runs from 2 overs. The was a single wicket apiece from Nithin Thomas (1-4), Waseem Qureshi (1-7), Bradley Akrigg (1-11), Ceri Holland (1-8) & Harris Rowlett (1-10). Ceri Holland took 2 catches & was awarded one of the fielding points, and Nikhil Thomas was awarded a fielding point thanks to running out an Earby batter. With Earby' Cocker (21) they managed to score 290 runs, but when this was adjusted for 8 dismissals their final total was 226 runs. Steeton won by the large margin of 66 runs.    Full Scorecard
