- Steeton U17s had a dreadful season in the league & were relegated after only managing to win the very last match of the season against the champions Sutton.
- Steeton U17s beat Glusburn away in the 1st round of the William Spencer Cup, but narrowly lost at home against Sutton.

Oxenhope (A) - 27th April 2009
Steeton's opening fixture at Oxenhope was rained off with the pitch at Oxenhope being water-logged.
Upper Wharfedale (A) - 7th May 2009
Steeton's first proper match of the season did not go well, with a loss against Upper Wharfedale. With the match reduced to 16 overs each Upper Wharfedale struggled to score 59 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. All the bowlers performed well, with the pick of the bunch being Danny Hanson, who took 2 wickets and only conceded 6 runs from 4 overs. Charlotte Boulton (2-20) also collected a brace of wickets, with the other wicket falling to James Wild (1-11). Skipper Ross Suri was wicketless, but took a catch. Davey (17*) & Eccleshall (13*) were Upper Wharfedale's top scorers. Steeton would have to aim to score at almost 4 per over. In reply Upper Wharfedale bowled well and only Saleem Qureshi (30*) managed to score double figures. In a tight finish Steeton were 55 runs for 9 wickets in their 16 overs...just a tantalising 4 runs from their target. In this close finish Steeton had lost by just 4 runs. Full Scorecard
Embsay (H) - 11th May 2009
Batting first Steeton were anchored by opener Charlotte Boulton, who top-scored with 19 runs, including 3 boundaries. The other batsmen to reach double-figures were Callum Lowe (14) & skipper Ross Suri (13*), who both hit 2 fours each. In their 18 overs Steeton had scored at almost 4½ an over, and finished with 78 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. In reply Embsay batted very solidly and only lost 1 wicket to the bowling of Ross Suri, who only conceded 9 runs in his 3 overs. Embsay's Bowker top-scored with 46* as Embsay scored 80 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 14.3 overs. Embsay won by 9 wickets with 3 overs to spare. Full Scorecard
Glusburn (A) - 15th May 2009 in William Spencer Cup
Batting first Steeton scored at well over 5 runs per over, and posted an impressive 95 runs for 3 wickets in 18 overs. Daniel Hanson top-scored with an unbeaten 23* runs, which included 1 six & 2 fours. Skipper Ross Suri (19) & Saleem Qureshi (11) were the other batsmen to reach double figures. Steeton's total was boosted by 22 byes, adding up to a total of 33 extras - a major contribution to Steeton's score. In reply Glusburn had 4 ducks, but despite this they scored well thanks to Ridehalgh (20) & Tomes (17*). Skipper Ross Suri was impressive with the ball, collecting 3 wickets for 10 runs from 4 overs. Ben Wood finished with great figures of 2 wickets for 5 runs from 4 overs, and there was a wicket apiece for Oliver Myer (1-15) & James Wild (1-12). Charlotte Boulton ran out one of the Glusburn batters, and Callum Lowe took 1 catch. Glusburn finished with 85 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 18 overs - 10 runs short of the Steeton target. Skipton (A) - 18th May 2009
Batting first Steeton's opener Charlotte Boulton (29) provided the stability for the Steeton innings. Charlotte's 29 runs included 3 boundaries, but wickets were tumbling at the other end. Three of the first seven batsmen were out for ducks & no-one apart from Charlotte made double figures. Batting at No8 Ben Wood (14*) smashed a six & a four and was not out as he gave the innings late momentum. Steeton had scored 83 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Steeton's defence of their total began well with Callum Lowe collecting 2 wickets for 19 runs from 5 overs & skipper Ross Suri bowled 4 tight overs that only conceded 7 runs as he collected 1 wicket. Charlotte Boulton (1-16) took 1 wicket caught by Danny Hanson & Danny (1-13) took 1 wicket caught by James Wild. Callum Lowe & James Wild were awarded the fielding points. In a close finish Callum Lowe ran out one of the Skipton batsmen, but for Skipton Holderness (32*) stood firm. Skipton had scored 87 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 18 overs, to win by 4 wickets with 2 overs to spare. Full Scorecard
Haworth West End (A) - 28th May 2009
Electing to bat first Haworth West End's top order all performed well - with Haworth's Alvey (51*) retiring with a half-century. The pick of the Steeton's bowling was Jake Hill, who collected 3 wickets for 22 runs from his 4 overs. Charlotte Boulton was also in fine form as she took 2 wickets for 24 runs from her 4 overs. Charlotte also took 2 catches, including 1 from her own bowling, and Jake Hill also took a return catch from his own bowling. Charlotte Boulton & skipper Ross Suri were awarded the fielding points. Haworth WE's strong batting line-up had scored an impressive 107 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs. After a shaky start Steeton's reply was steadied by skipper Ross Suri, who top-scored with 19 runs which included 4 boundaries before being run out. None of the top-order batsmen could stay with their captain, and the only other batters to reach double figures were Oliver Myers (15) & Jake Hill (12). Both batsmen were out to Haworth's Bottomley (4-10) as Steeton were all out for 81 runs in 19.1 overs. Steeton's miserable league season continues as they lost by 26 runs, and now Steeton's target for the rest of the season must be to stave off relegation. Full Scorecard
Oakworth (A) - 1st June 2009
Electing to bat first Oakworth's openers were both in great form as they each retired with half-centuries: Hainsworth (50*) & Taylor (54*). Oakworth built on this to finish with a staggering 153 runs for 2 wickets in their 20 overs - over 7½ per over! Skipper Ross Suri (1-26) & Callum Lowe (1-31) were the only bowlers to have any success. Charlotte Boulton was awarded 1 fielding point & a catch for James Wild earned him the other fielding point. Steeton's reply started solidly with opener Charlotte Boulton top-scoring with 20 runs including 1 six & 1 four. But only 2 other Steeton batsmen mangaed to reach double figures: skipper Ross Suri (17) including 2 fours & Jake Hill (19) including 1 six & 3 fours. Steeton finished with a good score of 96 runs all out in their 20 overs - a total which would have beaten many sides! However against a strong Oakworth side they lost by 57 runs. Full Scorecard
Sutton (H) - 4th June 2009 in William Spencer Cup
Having won the toss an chose to bat first, Sutton lost their first wicket early to the pace of Ross Suri (1-25). After this early setback Sutton put together a number of good scores that helped they finish with 129 runs for 4 wickets in their 20 overs. For Sutton Williams (51*) scored a half-century & retired. Danny Hanson was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for 33 runs for 5 overs, and Charlotte Boulton (1-29) was also successful. In reply Steeton were reduced to 25 runs for 3 wickets with only opener Charlotte Boulton (10) reaching double figures. There followed an excellent partnership between top-scorer Saleem Qureshi (41*) & Scott Hanson (33). Saleem scored an unbeaten 41* runs which included 2 boundaries & Danny hit 4 fours in his 33 runs. Joe McGuiness (10) also scored double figures, but in a tight finish Steeton finished 5 runs short of the Sutton target. Steeton scored 124 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 overs and they are now out of the William Spencer Cup. Full Scorecard
Sutton (A) - 8th June 2009
Steeton were looking for revenge after being dumped out of the Wm Spencer Cup at the hands of Sutton. Sutton elected to bat first and thanks to opener Simons (42*), who batted right through their innings, Sutton finished with 103 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Charlotte Boulton was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 23 runs from 5 overs. Skipper Ross Suri (1-21) & Callum Lowe (1-27) were the other bowlers to collect wickets. Steeton's reply again had a poor start - reduced to 35 runs for 3 wickets with only Charlotte Boulton (12) reaching double figures. A 34-run 4th wicket stand between Danny Hanson (23) & skipper Ross Suri (22*) steadied the innings. Danny hit 3 boundaries in his 23 runs & Ross hit 1 four for his unbeaten 22 runs. Callum Lowe scored 10 runs before being run out, as Steeton slumped to 89 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Steeton were again beaten in a close match - going down by 14 runs. Full Scorecard
Oxenhope (H) - 15th June 2009
Oxenhope batted first and thanks to some strong hitting by Crowther (30) & Ousey (27) they scored 106 runs and lost 7 wickets in 20 overs. The pick of the Steeton bowling was Charlotte Boulton, who collected 3 wickets for 27 runs in 5 overs. Jake Hill also had 2 wickets for only 9 runs, and there was a single wicket each for skipper Ross Suri (1-15) & Callum Lowe (1-32). The Steeton fielding was excellent with catches for Oliver Myers, Danny Hanson, Saleem Qureshi & James Wild, and fielding points for Callum Lowe & James Wild Steeton knew they had the task of scoring at over 5 runs per over - difficult but possible. Steeton;s reply got off to a good start with opener Charlotte Boulton scoring 11 runs. Top-scorer for Steeton was Saleem Qureshi, who was unbeaten with 32* runs, which included 2 fours. Danny Hanson scored a solid 17 runs & skipper Ross Suri chipped in with 11 runs. Steeton were assisted by 10 wides & 5 no-balls, but in a tight finish we were a tantalising 3 runs short. Steeton had scored 103 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs & so record another loss in this disastrous season. Full Scorecard
Upper Wharfedale (H) - 22nd June 2009
Steeton won the toss & decided to bat first. With 5 ducks & 2 batsmen only scoring 1 run, the Steeton innings was not the most prolific. Top-scorer was Saleem Qureshi, who scored an outstanding 37 runs before being clean bowled. Joe McGuinness batted well for his 15 runs, before he was run out, and the only other score worthy of a mention was 7 runs for Callum Lowe opening the innings. Steeton had not justified their captain's decision to bat first, as they finished with 73 runs all out in 19.3 overs. In reply Wharfedale passed the Steeton target comfortable with 6 overs to go. The only wicket fell to skipper Ross Suri, who bowled 5 tight overs and only conceded 11 runs while taking the wicket of Wharfedale's top-scorer, Schindler (33). Upper Wharfedale had scored 74 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 14 overs to win by 9 wickets, and for Steeton losing is becoming a bad habit! Full Scorecard
Embsay (A) - 29th June 2009
Batting first Steeton lost both openers for ducks, before Danny Hanson steadied the innings with 12 runs, including 2 fours, before he was clean bowled. Standing-in for the injured Ross Suri, skipper Callum Lowe hit a six before he was caught out for 10 runs. Jack Stephenson (12) was the only other batsman to reach double figures as he hit 2 boundaries. Charlotte Boulton (7), Ben Wood (4) & James Wild (6) made contributions, but with 4 ducks Steeton had posted an unchallenging total of 64 runs all out in 18.2 overs. Embsay's reply got of to a poor start with Danny Hanson (1-16) claiming the first wicket. It was then the 'Charlotte Boulton Show', as she ripped through the Embsay batsmen. Charlotte took a fantastic 7 wickets for 13 runs from 4.5 overs. Unfortunately Steeton had not posted enough runs to really challenge and Embsay scraped past the Steeton target with 8 wickets down, but 4 overs to spare. Steeton took their catches well with Danny Hanson taking 2 catches & a single catch each for Jake Hill, Danny Austick & a return catch from her own bowling for Charlotte Boulton. Steeton were unfortunate to lose by 2 wickets, particularly after Charlotte's efforts. Full Scorecard
