Glusburn (A) - 26th April 2010

In an nail-biting finish Steeton lost their opening match of the season at Glusburn. Batting first in a 16 overs-a-side game Steeton's top-order all scored well. Danny Hanson (16) was the first wicket to fall - caught out having hit 3 fours & scored 16 of the first 29 runs. Saleem Qureshi (15) was caught out for 15 runs including 3 boundaries & Steeton had progressed the score to 47 runs. Top-scorer for Steeton was Jake Hill (26), who smashed 1 six & 4 fours as he helped take the total on to 75 runs for 3 wickets. At the end of their 16 overs Steeton had scored at almost 5½ runs per over and had posted 86 runs for the loss of just 4 wickets. Glusburn's top-order were rapidly reduced to 10-4 with Jake Hill (1-11), but bowling honours must surely go to Danny Austick, who bowled 3 overs & took 3 wickets for just 2 runs. As the Glusburn later order rallied Nikhil Thomas (1-5) bowled 2 tight overs & skipper Oliver Myers (1-30) took a further wicket. There were catches for Jack Stephenson, Saleem Qureshi & skipper Oliver Myers ~ Oliver was awarded 2 fielding points. In the final over Glusburn managed to pass the Steeton target, scoring 90 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 16 overs.    Full Scorecard

Ingrow (H) - 6th May 2010

The return of skipper Charlotte Boulton helped in a fantastic finish as Steeton beat Ingrow by 10 wickets. Ingrow's decision to bat first appeared to be justified as they amassed 97 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 16 overs ~ over 6 runs per over! Both Danny Hanson (1-8) & Nikhil Thomas (1-9) contained the run flow well & were rewarded with a wicket each. Luke Watson (1-31) & Saleem Qureshi (1-21) also took 1 wicket apiece & there were catches for skipper Charlotte Boulton & Joe McGuinness. Charlotte's catch earned her a fielding point & a further fielding point went to Saleem Qureshi. Steeton's reply was faultless. Saleem led the way with an unbeaten 48* runs including 1 six & 6 fours. When the run rate looked like it might be too much Charlotte too picked up the pace -  smashing a huge six to win the match. Charlotte scored an unbeaten 47* runs including 1 six & 3 fours. Steeton had scored 98 runs without losing a wicket in 15.4 overs, to win by 10 wickets with just 2 balls to spare.    Full Scorecard

Pendle Forest (A) - 10th May 2010

In another fantastic finish Steeton beat Pendle Forest by just 6 runs. Playing 16 overs per side Steeton scored 97 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their 16 overs. Skipper Charlotte Boulton hit 2 fours as she scored 17 runs before being bowled. Charlotte's opening partner was Saleem Qureshi, who top-scored with 27* runs including 2 fours. Danny Hanson hit 2 fours in his knock of 13 runs before he was caught, and Jake Hill also hit 2 fours in his knock of 24 runs before he too was caught. Oliver Myers (7*) blasted 1 six as Steeton set a target of 97 runs - over 6 runs per over! In reply Pendle Forest also scored freely, but were checked by skipper Charlotte Boulton, who claimed 3 wickets and only conceded 10 runs from her 4 overs. Jake Hill (1-23) was the only other successful bowler. Keeper Jack Stephenson had a stumping and a catch from Charlotte's bowling, and Danny Hanson also took a catch - both Jack Stephenson & Danny Hanson were awarded fielding points. Saleem Qureshi ran out the other batter as Pendle Forest closed on 91 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 16 overs. In an exciting finish Steeton won by just 6 runs.    Full Scorecard

Oxenhope (H) - 17th May 2010

Steeton lost to Oxenhope by 6 wickets. Batting first Steeton's top order had a number of scores into double figures: skipper Charlotte Boulton (14), Danny Hanson (10) & Joe McGuinness (10), but it was only when Oliver Myers (41*) came to the crease that the scoreboard had a real boost. Oliver smashed 4 sixes & 2 fours as he scored an unbeaten 41* runs. Thanks to Oliver Steeton were able to average almost 6 runs per over, and finished with 112 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. In reply Oxenhope were always on target to pass the Steeton total. Skipper Charlotte Boulton was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for 28 runs, including a stumping by keeper Jack Stephenson. Danny Austick (1-20) (courtesy of a catch by Danny Hanson) & Oliver Myers (1-16) picked up a wicket apiece, but Oxenhope won comfortably with 6 wickets & almost 2 overs to spare. Oxenhope scored 113 runs for 4 wickets in 18.1 overs, and so Steeton lost by 6 wickets.    Full Scorecard

Bingley Congs (A) - 20th May 2010 in William Spencer Cup

Steeton progress to the 2nd round of the cup after beating Bingley Congs by 33 runs. Batting first Steeton lost early wickets to the bowling of Teale (4-30). Jake Hill top-scored with an excellent 33 runs, and he was well supported by Joe McGuinness (10), Luke Watson (11) & Danny Austick (14*). Steeton set a target of 97 runs as they lost 9 wickets in their 20 overs Bingley Cong's reply was cut short by Jake Hill (2-8), who blasted out both openers - conceding just 8 runs from 4 overs as he collected his 2 wickets. Skipper Charlotte Boulton (5-1) was in great form as she collected a 5-wicket haul. Charlotte bowled 4.4 overs that only conceded 11 runs as she took 5 wickets. Danny Hanson (2-23) was also successful, with 2 wickets for 23 runs from 5 overs. Steeton's fielding was of the highest order with a catch & a stumping for keeper Jack Stephenson, 2 catches for Danny Hanson, and 1 catch each for Joseph Rowbottom, Luke Watson & a return catch from her own bowling for Charlotte Boulton. Bingley Congs were all out for 64 runs, and so Steeton win by 33 runs and progress into the 2nd round of the William Spencer Cup, where they meet Oxenhope at home.    Full Scorecard

Denholme Dynamoes (A) - 24th May 2010

Denholme won the toss and chose to bat first, which looked a good decision when they went on to score 127 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs - with Wear (53*) retiring not out. The 'Dannys' both bowled well: Danny Hanson (2-31) took 2 wickets and conceded 31 runs from his 5 overs - 1 wicket being caught by Charlotte Boulton; and Danny Austick (2-42) also took 2 wickets from 5 overs conceding 42 runs - 1 wicket being caught behind by keeper Jack Stephenson. Skipper Charlotte Boulton (1-28) took the other wicket to fall, with 1 batter being run out. In reply opener Danny Hanson (30) ensured Steeton got off to a good start before being stumped. Jake Hill upped the tempo with a rapid 30 runs ~ Jake faced just 7 deliveries and smashed an incredible 5 sixes from one over! It was left to Jack Stephenson (31*) & Luke Watson (10*) to see Steeton safely home. Steeton had scored 130 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 16.1 overs, to win by 5 wickets with almost 4 overs to spare.    Full Scorecard

Chasing Oxenhope's 103 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs, Steeton only had 3 batsmen score double figures: Chris Jowett top-scored with 19 runs, Danny Austick scored 15 & Joe McGuinness scored 10 runs. Steeton were all out for 90 runs in 19.4 overs. Steeton lost by 23 runs.    Full Scorecard

Denholme Dynamoes (A) - 12th July 2010

Batting first Steeton scored 111 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs, with good scores from Jack Stephenson (29), Oliver Myers (29), Jake Hill (22) & Joe McGuinness (10). Denholme were bamboozled by the spin of Charlotte Boulton, who collected 4 wickets for 23 runs from 5 overs. Jake Hill (2-25) & Danny Hanson (2-16) were both rewarded with 2 wickets, and there was a single wicket apiece for Nikhil Thomas (1-1) & Danny Austick (1-19). Haworth (A) - 19th July 2010

Steeton secured promotion back into the top flight with a 6-wicket victory at Haworth...despite the rain. Haworth were 63 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs, with 3 wickets each for the 'Dannys': Danny Austick took 3 wickets for 11 runs from 5 overs & Danny Hanson took 3 wickets for 13 runs from 5 overs. Jake Hill took 2 wickets for 12 runs & the other wicket fell to Charlotte Boulton (1-25). Steeton's reply was led by Danny Hanson who scored an unbeaten 32* runs. Steeton scored 64 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 13 overs to win by 6 wickets with 7 overs to spare .    Full Scorecard
