Summary

During the closed season Steeton has been able to complete various projects; including new practise net facilities, both fixed & moveable; wheeled covers for the first time and rebuilding the boundary wall along the side of Summerhill Lane & also behind the pavilion. At the start of the season Steeton welcomed 2 brothers of current players: Andrew Luxton's brother Chris came to the Club from Harden and Jonathan Taylor's brother Mark also joined us. Steeton also welcomed back for a 2nd stint as a Steeton player, Graham Williamson from Olicanian, and also brought 3 Steeton legends out of retirement: Oliver Gledhill, Hayden Tennant & John Chapman. Gabe Manthorp also re-joined the Club from Cononley. Steeton's overseas player is Australian Grant McDonald, who is an opening bowler & middle order batter, who comes from Footscray Edgewater Cricket Club in Victoria - the same Club that Nathan Geisler & Grant Lindsey play for. Our 1st XI never managed to maintain any consistency, with good results & some poor performances. A solid finish to the season saw them finish in a creditable 5th place in the league. Consolation was a comprehensive victory in the Keighley T20 Cup as they retained the trophy. Our 2nd XI had a fantastic season in the league and finished league champions for the 4th time in the last 6 seasons - in doing so they broke the Club record number of wins in the top division with an incredible 16 victories. To emphasise their dominance of the top division Steeton had a clean sweep of all the individual awards at the league dinner: Mick Wilson won the league batting averages, James Emmott won the league bowling averages, Julian Higginson won the wicket-keeping award & Paul Hardwick won the fielding award. Both our 1st XI & 2nd XI exited the Cups to Knaresborough in the second round...both to rain affected bowl-outs. Our 3rd XI had a better cup run and reached the semi-final stage, but unfortunately lost to at home Guiseley, and so did not play in the final, which this year was staged at Steeton. Our u17s bounced straight back into the top division after the disappointment of last year's demotion. Our u9s were also league champions.
